Room Inspiration — 07

The wall everyone stares at without noticing

Every living room has one wall that gets looked at more than any other — usually because there's a screen on it. Most people design around the TV. We design the wall, and let the TV sit inside it.

A media wall done well doesn't announce itself as a media wall. Cable management, speakers, consoles and the television itself all recede into a single considered composition — panelling, shelving, a warm material change — so the room reads as designed first, and equipped second.

It's one of the highest-impact, lowest-effort upgrades in a home: get this one wall right, and the whole room feels finished, even before anything else changes.

  • 01

    Hide every cable, always

In-wall conduits and concealed power points mean nothing trails from the screen to the floor.

  • 02

    Frame it, don't float it

Panelling, a recessed niche or a change in material gives the screen a considered home rather than a bracket on bare wall.

  • 03

    Balance storage with display

Closed cabinetry for clutter, open shelving for the objects actually worth looking at.

  • 04

Light the wall, not just the screen

Backlighting and accent lighting keep the wall alive even when the television is off.
